Idaho Avenue from El Paseo Road to South Main Street will have intermittent lane closures for approximately 6 days beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, for street milling and repaving.  

Access to businesses will be maintained during construction. Motorists wanting to avoid possible delays should seek alternate routes.

The closure will not affect any RoadRUNNER Transit routes.

Las Cruces- The District One office for the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) with Smith and Aguirre Construction continue with the project development of the concrete wall barrier, lighting and placement of the large digital message board.

The contractor will need to close a portion of the eastbound lanes on US 70 between Rinconanda Blvd (exit 152) and Sonoma Ranch Blvd (exit 153) on Thursday August 21st from 7:00 pm until 6:00 am. The National Weather Service is calling for a 60 percent chance of precipitation through Saturday night and 50 percent on Sunday. In the event of flooding, the Las Cruces Fire Department is making sandbags available to Las Cruces residents.

The number of sandbags is limited to 10 per homeowner. They are intended to keep water from entering a dwelling so they should be placed around doorways and other entrances that are susceptible to flooding.

The sandbags are not intended to protect landscaping or vegetation.

Las Cruces residents may pick up sandbags at any of the following fire stations:
