One of the fastest-growing services at Branigan Library is e-books? The number of e-reader patrons at the library grows every day, but not everyone who wants to use them are comfortable the devices. The library will soon offer a new service to help familiarize patrons with these devices and offer help when making the choice to buy one.
The service will be offered inside Thomas Branigan Memorial Library’s (TMBL) “Tech Tent.” Library staffers will be in the Tech Tent to provide hands-on familiarization and training with e-readers and tablets, demonstrating how to use the devices and how to download e-books.

The Las Cruces Fire Department responded to a downed aircraft at the Las Cruces International Airport this morning.
Firefighters were alerted just before 8:00 a.m. to a report of a general aviation airplane that crashed on the western perimeter of the airfield. The aircraft rescue firefighting crew based at the airport quickly located the heavily damaged single engine plane and its two injured passengers.
Fire crews along with paramedics from American Medical Response treated the crash victims. One patient was transported to University Medical Center in El Paso and the other declined transport.

The National Weather Service is calling for a 60 percent chance of precipitation through Saturday night and 50 percent on Sunday. In the event of flooding, the Las Cruces Fire Department is making sandbags available to Las Cruces residents.
The number of sandbags is limited to 10 per homeowner. They are intended to keep water from entering a dwelling so they should be placed around doorways and other entrances that are susceptible to flooding.
The sandbags are not intended to protect landscaping or vegetation.
Las Cruces residents may pick up sandbags at any of the following fire stations:
